Faith is Being Sure: Reflections on Hebrews 11:1

“Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.” Living as a community of courageous disciples.

Sunday Homily Reflection

Hebrews 11:1 gives us one of the most sublime definitions in all of Scripture: 'Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.' Faith is not wishful thinking; it is a firm, rooted trust in God's promises. At St. Luke's, our mission statement calls us to be 'a Community of Disciples, living God's Word and reaching out to all people.' As we celebrate 46 years as a parish family, we remember that the pioneers of our church acted on faith—gathering in school classrooms with guitars and banners, trusting that God would build a home for His people in Wantirna. That same faith calls us today to reach out with hospitality, compassion, and courage.
